We have been asked a few times lately if we can recommend a reliable source of finding California city, state, and federal government construction contracts. So for all those inquired minds who would like to pursue such contracts, here is the answer…
First we suggest visiting your local city or county website. Most government sites would have web links on their sites with titles such as: Vendor Information or Current Bids & Contracts. Click on such links and they will guide you to the necessary information you will need in order to register as a local vendor and how to go about bidding these contracts. Here are the links for both San Francisco and Oakland City government website:
City of Oakland
Keep in mind that these are just city and state level government contracts. By logging onto FedBizOps, interested contractors can bid on such contracts as those belonging to all military branches (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines & Coast Guard), VA or GSA buildings to name a few. Federally awarded contracts have different requirements and processes than the local and state government entities.
The most reliable source for locating up-to-date assistance on finding and securing work with the local and federal government, visit the local SBA office. There you will find a wealth of information concerning loans, grants, tips and tricks to marketing to federal and state government agencies as well as the different requirements needed in order to bid those jobs.
